Dynamite  the Donkey may be a baby, but you really shouldn't underestimate him. He may come in a small package but you'll discover soon enough that he makes a BIG “kick”!

Featuring perky, upright ears and a cute, chubby tummy, he’s perfect for both hugs and home decor.

Dynamite looks great in a variety of fabrics (most fabrics will work very well, including quilting cottons, fleece, minky and other stretch fabrics) and colors. You can use felt or fleece for his mane.

Dynamite will make a brilliant burro buddy for any donkey lover. Click pattern back cover image for more information.

Below is my (SewThankful - Tracy Chapman) personal pattern review of Dynamite the Donkey sewing pattern. The pictures of the brown/white sewn donkey show the Dynamite Donkey I made for this review.

First, let me point out a few little changes I made. I had no problems or issues with making these changes.

🫏I chose to use buttons as eyes instead of craft eyes or embroidering eyes.
🫏I chose to change the tummy/chest color to a contrasting color instead of staying with the main fabric color.
🫏I chose to use flannel for the tummy/chest, inner ear, eye patches & muzzle.
🫏I chose to make the mane and tail tip out of layers of woven fabric (2 layers each of the flannel and the black hoof fabric) then after stitching them in place and snipping per the instructions, I frayed them to give a softer look.

Dynamite the Donkey was my very 1st Funky Friends Factory project and it was an excellent experience.  The pattern is extremely professional and well written. Seam allowances are built in and all the pieces all sewed together perfectly. I didn't need to "fudge" anything. Designer, Pauline McArthur, includes a link inside the pattern for a pictorial tutorial with additional hints, tips & tricks that works beautifully in conjunction with the printed pattern. This took me step by step through the entire process and I never had to rip out anything, not even once. THAT was a huge, very happy point for me.

While Dynamite the Donkey isn't an absolute beginner level Funky Friends Factory pattern (see below for a list of recommended BEGINNER Funky Friends Factory patterns), I believe that if you have solid basic sewing/quilting skills and you're able to SLOW DOWN and follow the given instructions step-by-step as provided in the written pattern along with the online pictorial tutorial you are bound to have success.

One other thing that I did that helped me so much was to break the project up into 3 separate days. I would suggest this to anyone who struggles with constant interruptions & feelings of "overwhelm". The first day I prepared all my pattern template pieces per the instructions and prepared all my materials. The second day I cut & marked all my fabric pieces and started sewing. The third day I completed the sewing and stuffing. You could do more or less days depending on your needs and personal situation.

How would I rate Dynamite the Donkey sewing pattern? Out of a possible 5 stars, I would give the pattern a 5+. The instructions & supporting online tutorial were excellent. The finished donkey is better than I imagined, I love him so much. The experience was fantastic and I look forward to sewing more donkeys and more Funky Friends Factory Patterns.
