Inspirational: June 2008 Archives

I recently took a road trip. My daughter's graduation from US Coast Guard Basic Training at Cape May, NJ was the destination.  I was thrilled to have the opportunity to meet suppliers & business associates along my travels and I will include more about that in future entries. 

On the way home, when I stopped for gas in Pennsylvania this lovely creature was sitting on the sidewalk in front of the station.  It was VERY large (larger than my hand...and the wings are shown retracted here).  The "fern-like" antennae were extremely impressive. I grabbed my camera and immediately started snapping pictures.  Then a motorcycle guy came up to take a look.  He gently picked up the moth and took him to the adjacent field where the moth flew to safety.

At the time I did not know the name of this moth, but found it on the internet.  This is a Luna Moth.  Click here to read more about it.
