US Coast Guard Basic Training Graduation for Natalie
Friday, June 13, 2008 was an outstanding day.
I woke up early in my hotel room at Cape May, NJ. My only daughter was about to graduate from US Coast Guard Basic Training. To help work off some of my anxiety I took an early morning walk along the boardwalk. It was definitely going to be a hot day. I grabbed a quick bite to eat, took my shower & dressed up for the big event.
I arrived at the Training Center in plenty of time for the ceremony, still excited and looking forward to seeing Nat. They showed us a film which gave us a sense of what Basic Training entailed (let's just say it was no vacation). Then we proceeded to the stands by the parade field.
Here are a few pictures:

I am so very proud of Natalie. She has learned and accomplished so much during Basic Training.
.
She has begun an adventure that is so full of possibility. She is proud to serve our country.
Natalie is very strong, happy, excited for her future and ready.
Semper Paratus - the Coast Guard's motto....meaning always ready.
Obviously, I am/we are very happy and excited for her.

Dear Tracy and family,
Congratulations with the graduation of Natalie!
Eugenie (from the Netherlands)
I just had to write this lovely Sunday morning when I saw the pictures and especially the picture of your daughter. There are no politics involved when it is family members. As a member of the quilting family I congratulate your daughter for having taken this difficult road. Thanks to all who serve, each and every day.
