| | Comments (4)
There's still time to whip up some spooky yo-yo spiders to decorate your home or surprise friends & family members.

They're quick, easy, furry & fun!  I had so much fun making them, I wrote a PDF pattern to share.

Cell Phone Catty is a really fun gift-making pattern.

I made these twins at the same time (so they're sisters to my first one!).

Assembly-line sewing speeds up the process.  It's also fun to experiment using different items for embellishments.  I used some cool decorative brads I found in the stationary department at Hobby Lobby.  I looked for brads that did not have super wide back tabs and these were not hard at all to use.

These kitty girls will make great Christmas gifts.

I'm looking forward to making more of these in different colors, but I need to get busy with a few other projects first.

Here's the 1st Cell Phone Catty I made:

Miranda...sweet Miranda!

The Miranda Day Bag pattern has been flying off the shelf faster than any pattern I can remember!

The most frequently asked question I've been receiving about the pattern is WHAT is the name of the fabric used to make the bag on the cover of the pattern?  If you are curious to know the answer to that question, you'll definitely want to check out this Lazy Girl blog entry - click here (link opens a new window).

Watch later this week, I'll be listing the very cool Clover purse handles in two different colors (and more coming).  If all goes well, I'm hoping to have my own Miranda to show you very soon.

Designer, Joan Hawley, has been busy creating beautiful Miranda samples for Quilt Market!

Check out these two samples she made for Benartex

I'm SEW EXCITED!!!  I don't remember the last time so many people were so hyped up about a new bag pattern.  WOW!!

I can't wait to make my first Miranda, can you?!!

At long last, she's HERE!!!  Joan Hawley (Lazy Girl Designs) has outdone herself with this one!

Isn't she pretty?
Click the thumbnail to view a larger image.

The Miranda Day Bag pattern makes a bag that is sure to be the perfect companion for your day on the go.

  • She's pretty, stylish, functional and she has attitude to spare!
  • The bag was designed to be moderate sized, yet roomy.
  • Let Miranda double as your personal assistant.  She graciously offers pockets to keep everything organized: file folders, magazines, even your favorite chocolate will fit nicely.

Just to be...loved!

DozerLeftSideProfileOct2007.jpgIt's a dog's life, but somebody has to live it!

Dozer is a sweetheart.  He is a full bred English Bulldog we adopted through Bulldog Rescue this summer.

If you're looking for a great dog (or any animal pet), I highly encourage you to check into your local rescue groups.

He's about 6 years old and he has a couple of health issues with his teeth and ears, but he just loves to be loved.  His favorite treat is any kind of CHICKEN and his favorite activity is snoring.

He's our sweet guy.

Four new colors of Bottom Line Thread have arrived!  These colors are #651, #652, #653, #654 (found near the bottom of the Sew Thankful Bottom Line Thread page -- designated in red as new release Fall 2007).

The Bottom Line Thread is a fine 60 wt. polyester thread that disappears into the fabric resulting in perfect curves and sharp points. Great in the bobbin, but also works beautifully in the top of the machine for superb dense/detail quilting.

The lint-free, ultra-smooth surface of the thread helps prevent snagging and knotting.

#651 Ivory
651.jpgNote, #651 in the 1420 yard spool size is not yet in stock (should be within the next 7 - 10 days or hopefully sooner!). Currently in stock in the 3,000 yard cone.

#653 Beach

#654 Oatmeal

Four new colors of King Tut Thread have arrived!
These colors are #924, #928, #944, #994 (found in numerical order on the Sew Thankful King Tut page -- designated in red as new release Fall 2007).

King Tut Cotton Quilting Thread is made from the cream of the crop cotton in Egypt. It is 100% EXTRA-Long Staple (ELS) Egyptian Cotton. The cotton staple fibers are 10% longer than standard long staple cotton. That translates to LESS lint and MORE strength.

Short color change intervals of approximately 1 1/2" = smooth color flow through your quilt.

King Tut is a 40 weight thread. It is perfectly suited for hand quilting, machine quilting AND especially wonderful for longarm quilting.

Here Kitty Catty...Caddy!

I love my new Cell Phone Catty!
CellPhoneCattySampleScanF.JPG
I whipped her up over the weekend and she's already added *sew* much dazzle to my day.
I smile every time I pick up my purse.

CellPhoneCattySample1a.jpg

Isn't she cute?  I made her using the Cell Phone Catty pattern from Cotton Ginnys.Wanna see the back side?

CellPhoneCattySampleBACK.JPGCellPhoneCattySampleBACK1.JPGI know I'm going to have to make more of these.

Oooohhh...great gift-making is in the works!  Cell Phone Catty will make a great Christmas present for my daughter and quite a few other people.

I was surprised at how easy it was to make this pattern.  The directions are very well written, but it is important to read them ALL the way through before beginning.

A sewing machine with zig-zag capability is recommended but not required (you can do all straight stitching if you want).

One thing I did differently from the pattern -- I did not use sew-in Velcro.  I used the new Fusion Velcro (that is a permanent fusible).  Good stuff! Sew Thankful does not have it in stock yet, but should very soon.

Another thing I think will be helpful -- next time I'm going to use Quilter's Vinyl to trace off the pattern templates.  I made this one using KWIK Trace, and it worked OK...but for these smaller pieces and for the required placement markings, using Quilter's Vinyl should work much better.

She's a pretty, pretty girl!  The kind you want to take EVERYWHERE.

Handbag lovers...have you seen the new Lazy Girl Miranda bag pattern?  She's a B-E-A-U-T-Y!!!!
Click here for a closer look at the Miranda bag on designer, Joan Hawley's website.

So, just WHEN will I be listing the Miranda pattern?  Soon, very soon.  The Sew Thankful "system" is not set up to accept pre-orders and we do not "list" any products for which we have not received the initial order.

I expect to receive our order within about a week and will list ASAP once received.   I then will announce Miranda's arrival in the FREE SewThankful eNews and provide some sort of a time-limited, promotional eCoupon code at that time.

If you're not a member of the eNews, you may want to join quick.  Sew Thankful offers periodic eCoupons that are only provided in the eNews to member/subscribers--they are not provided in any other place nor by any other means or method at this time.  Click here if you'd like to learn more about signing up for the FREE Sew Thankful eNews.

Related note:  Sew Thankful will not be stocking the Miranda fabrics (fabrics shown on the Miranda pattern cover), but hopefully will be adding the handles very soon.

Judy Martin does it again!

If you like Log Cabin quilts, you're gonna LOVE Judy Martin's NEW Log Cabin Quilt Book

Even if you don't love Log Cabin quilts, you should take a look at this book.
These are NOT typical Log Cabin quilts -- they are simply "WOW!
JMLogCabinQuiltBookSM.jpg
The book includes *sew* MUCH
  • 16 complete and accurate patterns in multiple sizes (34 sizes in all)
  • 400 color diagrams
  • 100 setting plans
  • 36 borders
  • 100 gorgeous photos
  • Once again, Judy names names...of her quilters, that is! Longarm quilting celebrity names like: Dawn Cavenaugh, Jennifer Cunningham, Sherry Rogers-Harrison, Margy Sieck, Sally Terry, and Nichole Webb.  Chris Hulin hand-quilted one. A full-size photo of each quilt and detail shots show the exquisite quilting.
I've always liked Log Cabin quilts but I am COMPLETELY smitten by Judy's "Loveland Log Cabin". I've never seen such pretty log cabin "hearts" quilt.

This particular quilt tugs at may heart and makes me smile at the same time. There is something so subtly elegant and comforting about it.  I think it's beautiful.

Judy designed Loveland Log Cabin featuring pink ribbons for breast cancer awareness and the focal point hearts to honor loved ones.  It's pieced by Judy and it was beautifully quilted by Sally Terry.
JMLovelandLogCabinsm.jpg
The "teaser" image here (used with permission) does not come close to showing the exquisite beauty of this quilt.  The quilting features gorgeous feathers.  WOW!

128 pages -- lots of color throughout!

Okey dokey...sew...what I have been told is that RSS feed subscription will not work with Explorer version 6 or lower. I have heard back from Explorer 7 users who have been able to subscribe successfully.

Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do to *fix* the incompatibility of Explorer 6 (and lower) with RSS feed subscriptions on my end (this problem is not unique to this blog).

If you use Explorer 6 or lower and want to subscribe to the RSS feed, you will need to upgrade to Explorer 7.  If you don't want to upgrade, that's perfectly understandable...please just bookmark the page and check back later.

I have just discovered that there seem to be incompatibility issues with Explorer (at least v. 6, possibly others) when attempting to subscribe to this blog using RSS Feed.

I am working hard to get this tech matter resolved.  In the meantime, please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience this has caused.

As far as I know, this problem only occurs when using Explorer as the browser.  If anyone using a different browser experiences this, please let me know.

My first Wonder Wallet

| | Comments (1)

I finally did it!  I found/made time to make my first Wonder Wallet by Joan Hawley of Lazy Girl Designs. The pattern is very easy and well-written. In such a short period of time I had a finished item that is functional and attractive.  OH YEAH...I have plans to make gifts from this pattern!

I made the contrasting heart-shaped yo-yo as a base to my button.  Here it is:

Tracy1stWonderWallet.jpg
I used Clover's Small Heart-Shaped Yo-Yo maker to make my yo-yo.

Here's a view of the inside:
